Mercury Fillings and Arthritis: My Unexpected Journey

Mercury Fillings - Arthritis
Mercury Fillings - Arthritis

For years, I had been noticing something worrying - a gradual increase in joint pain. My fingers and wrists felt stiff, sore, and inflamed, and it was getting worse with time. Everyday tasks like typing, cooking, or even opening jars became uncomfortable. It started to cross my mind: Could this be arthritis setting in?

I’ve always believed that the body has a way of communicating what’s going on beneath the surface if we know how to listen. So, I tested myself through kinesiology - and one thing kept showing up, again and again: mercury.

At first, I brushed it aside. Mercury felt like such an odd culprit. But the results were consistent. Eventually, I booked a dental appointment to check my fillings, and to my surprise, I discovered I had three containing mercury. Even more concerning, one of them was damaged.

I didn’t hesitate. I arranged to have them replaced safely.

And here’s the extraordinary part: within one week of removing those fillings, my joint pain disappeared completely. No more stiffness. No more aching wrists or fingers. The relief was profound.

Why Could Mercury Affect Joints?

Mercury has long been debated in the health world. While many dentists now use composite fillings, mercury amalgam fillings were standard for decades. These fillings can release tiny amounts of mercury vapour, especially if they’re cracked or worn.

For some people, this may not cause obvious problems. But for others — especially those with sensitivities, toxic load issues, or weakened detox pathways — mercury can contribute to:

  • Inflammation in the body

  • Autoimmune-type reactions

  • Neurological symptoms

  • Joint and muscle pain

The link between mercury exposure and arthritis-like symptoms isn’t widely acknowledged in mainstream medicine, but cases like mine show there’s more to explore.

Listening to the Body

What struck me most through this experience is how my body had been trying to tell me something all along. The pain wasn’t random. It had a root cause. Once I addressed it, the body responded with relief.

This doesn’t mean every case of arthritis or joint pain is caused by mercury fillings. But it does highlight an important truth: symptoms are signals. They’re messages from the body, asking us to dig deeper.

Final Thoughts

If you’re struggling with unexplained pain, fatigue, or other chronic symptoms, it may be worth looking at environmental factors like mercury exposure. Safe removal should always be done by a dentist trained in handling amalgam fillings, as improper removal can make things worse.

For me, this experience has been life-changing. To go from struggling daily with joint pain to being pain-free in a week still feels astonishing. It’s a powerful reminder of the resilience of the body when we give it the right support.
