My Journey with Light Therapy Patches and Macular Degeneration

Three years ago, I received news that many people fear hearing.

I was diagnosed with dry macular degeneration.

As someone who relies heavily on reading, writing, and working with clients every day, it was deeply concerning. Dry macular degeneration is generally considered a progressive condition, and I was told there was little that could be done beyond monitoring it and supporting overall eye health.

Like many people, I accepted the diagnosis but continued searching for ways to support my body naturally.

Looking Beyond the Diagnosis

Throughout my career as a kinesiologist, I have always been fascinated by the body's ability to adapt, repair, and respond when given the right support.

I have seen time and time again that our bodies are incredibly intelligent.

This doesn't mean we should ignore diagnoses or medical advice. However, it does mean that I am always interested in exploring ways to support the body's natural processes.

Around five months before my follow-up eye test, I began using the LifeWave X39 light therapy patch.

At the time, I wasn't using it specifically for my eyes.

I was interested in the broader benefits that many people were reporting, including improvements in energy, recovery, wellbeing, and overall health.

What Are Light Therapy Patches?

One of the things that intrigued me most about the patches was how different they were from supplements or medications.

Nothing enters the bloodstream.

The patches contain no drugs, stimulants, chemicals, or active ingredients that are absorbed by the body.

Instead, they use a form of phototherapy. The patches are designed to reflect specific wavelengths of light generated by the body's own heat back into the skin.

This process is believed to stimulate certain biological responses within the body.

As someone who is naturally curious and always interested in understanding how the body works, I found the concept fascinating.

The Follow-Up Eye Examination

After approximately four months of using the X39 patch, I returned to the same optician who had originally diagnosed my dry macular degeneration.

I underwent the same retinal scans and examinations.

I wasn't expecting anything particularly dramatic.

In fact, I was simply attending for a routine review.

The results surprised me.

The optician could no longer see evidence of the macular degeneration that had previously been identified.

Naturally, I asked questions because I wanted to understand exactly what I was being shown.

The scans that had previously demonstrated changes associated with macular degeneration were no longer showing the same findings.

My Personal Experience

I want to be very clear:

This is simply my personal experience.

I am not suggesting that light therapy patches cure macular degeneration, nor am I suggesting that everyone will experience the same results.

What I can say is that my own eye scans changed significantly following a period of using the X39 patch, and that was both unexpected and exciting for me personally.

As someone who has spent years helping clients explore possible underlying factors affecting their health and wellbeing, it reinforced something I have always believed:

The human body is capable of far more than we often give it credit for.

Why This Matters to Me

The experience sparked a deeper interest in the potential of light therapy.

Since then, I have used kinesiology to test whether various LifeWave patches may be supportive for individual clients, alongside the other work I do looking at nutrition, stress, neurological development, and wellbeing.

What fascinates me most is not any single product or technique.

It is the idea that the body is constantly communicating what it needs.

My work has always been about listening to those messages and helping people understand the bigger picture.

Remaining Open-Minded

Health journeys are rarely straightforward.

What works for one person may not work for another.

But I believe there is value in remaining curious, asking questions, and staying open-minded about emerging approaches that may support health and wellbeing.

My experience with the X39 patch was certainly one of the most surprising health experiences I have had personally.

It reminded me that sometimes the body can respond in ways we do not expect.

And sometimes, the most interesting discoveries happen when we remain open to possibilities.

Interested in Learning More?

If you would like to find out more about light therapy patches, kinesiology, or the whole-person approach I use in clinic, I would be delighted to have a conversation.

Whether you are looking for answers about your own health, your child's wellbeing, or simply want to understand more about the body's remarkable ability to adapt and respond, I am always happy to share what I have learned on my journey.
